SMA Negeri 13 Jakarta yang berdiri pada tanggal 18 Agustus 1964, pada awalnya hanya sebagai filial atau kelas jauh dari SMA Negeri 1 Jakarta, hingga ditetapkan menjadi sekolah mandiri pada tahun 1968. Begitu sederhananya sekolah ini diberi nama sekolah “TEXAS” karena beberapa bagian kelas terbuat dari papan, dan lingkungan sekitar sekolah bisa dikatakan kumuh dan becek ketika hujan. Namun seiring waktu, pada tahun 1994 sekolah ini ditetapkan menjadi sekolah unggulan di wilayah Jakarta Utara. Pada tahun 2004 ditetapkan sebagai sekolah unggulan di wilayah DKI Jakarta.Telp.
