For an hour or more that evening I listened to his monotonous chirrup about bad money driving out good, the token value of silver, the depreciation of the rupee, and the true standards of exchange. ”Suppose,” he cried with feeble violence, ”that all the debts in the world were called up simultane ously, and immediate payment insisted upon,—what under our present conditions would happen then?”

About Author:
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (May 22, 1859 - July 7, 1930) was a Scottish writer and physician best known for creating the iconic detective character, Sherlock Holmes.

Doyle began writing short stories and novels while pursuing his medical practice. In 1887, he published ""A Study in Scarlet,"" the first novel featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The novel gained immediate popularity, and Doyle went on to write many short stories and novels about the famous detective.
